About the project
dhagun is a year long outdoor exhibition integrating First Nations voices and creative responses to Country, demonstrated through digital design, installation, video projection, lightboxes and live performance. dhagun is a Yuggera language word meaning earth, place or country.
The first iteration features artwork by Brook Andrew, Robert Andrew, Hannah Bronte, Casey Coolwell, and a performance by Digi Youth Arts.
About the Curator
In 2021, La Boite will unveil brand-new visual installations by First Nations artists, curated by Blaklash. Blaklash is a collective that delivers cultural events and creative projects that showcase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices.
Established in 2018, Blaklash aims to create economic opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses, pursue new platforms to showcase their voices, and provide opportunities for the Non-Indigenous community to experience Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture through art, creativity and community projects.
